CIVILIAN PEACE SERVICE

The Civilian Peace Service is a Civil Society project which assists unarmed civilians, especially women and children, to meet their security needs without resort to armed force, both at home and abroad. The Civilian Peace Service project uses the strategies and tactics of nonviolence; furthermore, the project supports the extension of transparency and accountability into all areas of human endeavour by such means as an International Criminal Court and the taxation of international financial transactions (The Tobin Tax).

In association with peace, justice, development and human rights non-government organizations the CPS project is built on the traditions of Gandhi, the Gandhian Peace Army (Shanti Sena) 1922, Martin Luther King, the World Peace Brigade 1962-1964 and Peace Brigades International, 1981 to date.
