In its present form, the Parish of Maberly-Lanark is the result of the amalgamation, in 1966, of the Parishes of Maberly-Brooke and Lanark-Balderson-Fallbrooke. All of the churches began as Mission churches. St. Peter's Church in Fallbrooke was part of this Parish until it was secularized in 1996.
St. Paul's Church overlooks the Village of Lanark from high on a rocky hill. The Mission of Lanark dates back to 1819 and follows the first group of settlers to come to Lanark, trekking the 100 or so difficult Km from Brockville, after the War of 1812. Legend has it that the first service in Lanark Village was held in 1819 in an upstairs room somewhere! St. Paul's was built in 1842 on land given by James H. Manahan whose grave is in the church yard beside the church. St.John the Evangelist Church at Balderson was built in 1890 and became part of the Mission of Lanark.
The Mission of Maberly included St. Stephen's at Brooke and St. Alban's at Maberly. On Whitsunday, May 13, 1883, the first service in the new Mission was held in St. Stephen's. The records show that 100 people attended the service and the offertory was $1.38!
Interim Rector: Canon David Smith
Rev. Doug Richards who was inducted into this Parish on October 4, 1998 left in July 2006.

RECENT DEVELOPMENTS AT MABERLY LANARK : We would like to thank Tay Valley Township for offering St. Stephen's and St. Alban's the use of the community hall in Maberly for the winter months. We were able to save a considerable sum by not having to heat the churches!
