The Parish Guild of ST. James' meets at 7 p.m. on the first Monday of the month (September to June), sometimes
preceded by a Shared Supper ('Pot Luck').
They gather for devotions, business, fellowship and fund-raising
to support projects both within the parish and in the wider community. One of their special projects is to
maintain our Rectory in order to keep the heritage building a gracious, comfortable and efficient home for our Rector.
Now, they support a variety of projects, near and far, and also make a donation to the parish budget each year.
St James' Parish Guild holds its annual Smorgasbord Feast every autumn which attracts approximately four
hundred people.
As well they cater
several dinners a year for outside groups, and provide receptions following funerals at St James' at the
request of the Rector.
In early December the "Annual Pre-Christmas Bazaar" featuring
baking, crafts, handiwork, quilts, treats and treasures, and an elegant Luncheon/Tea.
In the spring they have a "New to You" Sale (all manner of recycled clothing, household
goods, books, and "White Elephants"!).
A recent project of the Parish Guild was the purchase of a complete set of new stacking chairs for the
Good Shepherd Hall and the Anna Wilson Room. These comfortable, attractive and practical chairs will
be an asset to the parish for many years to come.
