Genuine Pressed Wool Felt |
---|
Code Felt manufactures pressed wool felts, which are a blend of wool and rayon. Depending on the specific requirements of the customers, the percentage of wool can vary from 30 percent to 95 percent. Recently synthetic felts have been introduced into the marketplace to compete against the pressed wool felts. Though these felts are cheaper to produce than the wool felts, they do not match the quality and durability of the wool products. In the colored line, for example, the quality of synthetics varies widely: needle marks show on the surface, giving them a rough finish, and cutting synthetics with scissors (as children do for crafts in school) is much more difficult compared to wool felt. There are many uses for felt that require wool in order to satisfy consumer needs. Some examples are in the manufacture of hats, warm insoles and boot liners, displays and cresting. In most of these areas, genuine wool is highly preferred over synthetics for the quality and beauty of the product. |
